Swimming Set of the Week - May 5, 2012
Celebrating Cinco de Mayo with a little speedwork this week.
There's a certain loneliness about training for open-water swimming, especially when you do your training in a pool. This drill serves multiple purposes to teach and help break the monotony that comes with 5,000-meter swims.
Working pace today, and practicing the ability to stay relaxed on the front part of each swim or race.
We decided to reshoot and repost this drill because when we originally posted it, there was no sound on the video. On YouTube, when people see the old version, they commonly respond that there are no flip turns in butterfly... in this drill, there are.
This week's set combines speedwork and easy recovery swimming...a good mix for mid-season speedwork.
We continue the theme of preparing for an SCM meet in an SCY pool. This week: preparing for a 100m race by swimming broken 125s in yards.
Speed set this week...geared to help you get ready for 50-meters sprints while training in a SCY pool.
Prepare for SCM season in a SCY pool with this week's set, which calls for 125s and up-and-out 75s.
Another set this week that helps swimmers train for the SCM season while in a SCY pool.
How to train for LCM in an SCY pool? This week's set features broken 125s and broken 75s... to get you ready to race a 100 or 50 LCM.
This week's set, like Glenn's kick set from May 25, 2011, demands close attention to effort and pace...and the ability to do math in your head while swimming.
Ultimately, the sport of competitive swimming is about racing. Finding what skills, or weapons, work best for you in those races is key to winning.
A nice main set this morning getting the heart rate up a bit, and then working some pace stroke.
We are a group of swimmers who swim really fast, and like to help others learn how to reach their competitive potential in the area of professional swimming.
