Here's a quick drill to help learn good sighting techniques for open-water and triathlon swimming.
When working with great swimmers, it's always interesting to see what specific things they do that we can all learn from. Working with Fran Crippen showed us a great breathing drill mixed into an old standard.
From a recent shoot in Florida, what can you see that's happening from this picture?
If it weren't for the breath... that darn need for air... just about anyone could learn to swim a beautiful freestyle. This drill, which asks you to connect the shoulder to the breath, can help you establish better rhythm and timing.
This week's set of the week helps you work on many elements of breaststroke: breath control, narrow kick, body undulation, and high elbows during the pull.
A couple weeks ago, I was playing around with my camera in the diving well, and blew out a couple bubble rings. I posted the short clip on Facebook only to be asked a few times... "How did you do that?" Since I'm on the road this week, I figured we could all use a little break, and I'd have some real masters demonstrate.
Here's a nice shot of a breaststroker. He swam very well this past weekend, so I wanted to give him a little plug. Yeah, yeah... go Gators.
Consistent, quick kicking, combined with a stable body roll, helps you move everything forward when you're swimming freestyle. This drill gives you enough time to work on both.
