This is a question form me(...The Dad)....
Last season befor a meet I've trained with the jonger swimmer a sort of preparation for this meet. Giving points of advice and trying to get them sharp. Of corse Juliette was in this group.
Now I wander if this is a good thing or not?????
From my experiance as a musician you always practice what you are going to perform just before you go on stage.
And I know that with other sport you focus on your meet that is comming your way......but now with swimming?????....does it work or not???

Greatings......The dad(...ps....we have a meet this weekend)

Juliette has a very nice butterfly. If you wanted to sharpen some points I think it was a good thing to do (swim with younger swimmers).

Juliette's Dad, make the training race specific to sharpen them up. Work the little things (!) like the starts and turns which they allow to falter in the middle of their normal training because they are doing them all the time. My personal feeling is that most of the work needs to be done before race week. If you give them too much to think about in the last few days the stroke can disintegrate, especially if it's not been picked up before. As for trying to make it a science, the final preparation is one I don't think anybody has yet perfected, otherwise we'd all be gold medallists. Good luck at the meet to all the swimmers.

Of course that the final preparation is an open item....I think it also is very swimmer-dependent issue. But thanks for your advice,.....It confims a bit what I was thinking about.
Another question.....How many meets do you have a season???

Probably too many! We have team galas (leagues, friendlies and such like), 9 per year spread between different ages, and about 14 Open meets plus our own Club Champs. The range of events allows all of our swimmers from Novice to Masters to compete at various times, if they want to. Club Champs happen at 3 points in the year (1500 / 800 in the summer, 200s/ 50s, 400 IM & 400 Free in November and 200s & IMs in January).

well....doesn't soud like too many....here we are almost every saturday up for a meet,...regional...divisional,...clubmeets and then limit-meets(most on sundays like the long distance-meets)...and then tournaments in between......When do I work???....hahahah between the swim-meets!!!!!

The big problem for my club swimmers is we only get to train Saturday morning, Sunday and Monday nights, so racing too often (always weekends) means no training! And isn't work just something you do to allow you to coach? Or is my perception of the way I do it all wrong? lol

Youre perception is correct GW...hahahahaha...we did a meet Preparation training this morning( from 5.00AM to 7.00AM)....it was a good and fun one.
