Well James a lactate test simply measures your blood level of lactate and it is expressed in mmols/liter.

Lactate tolerance sets:long sprints and long rests.
6X100 on 7 min.
3X200 on 10 min.
(*) be careful for this will produce severe acidosis.

Lactate production sets
8x25 on 2 min.
6X50 on 5 min.

severe acidosis?

C'mon James you know...lactate breaks down into lactic acid in your muscle fibers, known as acidosis.

James, for the sets you can look in your Sweetenham book which has a very good chapter on it and sets out in easy reading what you would look to do. Just be aware that the sets in the book are written for top swimmers so you would need to reduce them to suit your levels of fitness and ability

Hi GW ( or any other with the know how please), how do you test the lactate of the children you coach and how often? Do you get a sports scientist or do you use some kind of equipment?
