I know this sounds a bit retarded but I am having some issues with team unity and wanted to know if some other coaches out there had any ideas as to any drills that we can do in practice to increase team bonding and spirit. |

What sort of things are going on, Brendon? |

A certain group believes their to good for the rest of the team and the rest of the team retaliates. Its just making practice hostile and unproductive and in the end the kids aren't pushing for the same goal its just an individual race. |

I've not had groups involved but, on occasions, individuals and I've taken them aside and explained that we are a 'team' and if they are not happy with that they can leave. Extreme but it has worked. How about moving them across the lanes and getting them to lead the lane but so they are separated as a group? Team relays during sessions? Group meeting explaining why you (as a club) are working as you are and what the goals for the 'club' are? Parental involvement?. Just a few quick thoughts. Good luck with it |
We are a group of swimmers who swim really fast, and like to help others learn how to reach their competitive potential in the area of professional swimming.
