I'm working for a triathlon on September 13, and I have to do a 150 meter swim, 4 miles of biking, and 1 mile of running. now i want to get a good start on the swim. there is a ten second interval for every body. so one person goes 10 seconds later next person goes. so, does anyone know how i can get a good start on the swim, but also conserve energy for the biking and running? |

is this a pool swim? usually those short distances are, and they usually dont let you dive in. i would work on those crazy turns off the wall, which require you to go under the lane line. That is a very short distance, and i know people underestimate their time and you may run into people if you are faster. make sure you streamline well off the wall also. if you are not used to swimming much, keep the kick small and streamlined so you dont wear out your legs. you should also think about the transitioning to the bike and practice that if you havent already. is that what you wanted to know? |

It's going to be my first season with triathlons and for the July event I registered for, under the swim rules, it states that no flip turn and dolphinning is allowed (time penalty). However for the April event, different sanction club, doesn't have these rules listed. My suggestion is to email the club about the rules. Open turn might be an option. |
