Strange things of swimming!!!
After a superb participation at the USA trials, that included 2 WR, Aaron Peirsol didn't qualified for the final of the 100 m. backstroke!!!

NBC has pretty good coverage, its too bad that you have to be in the states to watch them online though

Tomas, Peirsol said himself he miscalculated his position. It's his own fault. No, pity with that! He should have been swimming all out.

Big K, you can watch the footage on cbc.ca/sports/worldaquatics/index.html they cover pretty much everything but the prelims...

Thanks Sprinter...and can you tell me what are you doing in your new photo? To me it looks like a breakout (butterfly breakout).

Responded Jul 28, 2009 07:37PM

yes tomas i was allso lookin to se peirsol on finals , i don't know what happened he should give more , he is not swimming on other races so i dunno why he did not gived 100% in qualifying times . this was really a lesson to other swimmers .

and iam so happy we have a good butterfly swimmer here in sweden, sara sjöström and she is only 15 :) and breakin inge debrujin record !!!

now phelps lost iam not sure what to say to but i will say same thing as Paul Bidermann said "phelps was fast on starts and turns. but i was swimming faster" this is allso a lesson that don't relay that much on starts and turns, swimm as fast as you can. i will see if i can upload some videos from rome 2009 :)

Well I honestly believe that we are not seing swimming at it's best. I think that in this Championships many swimmers experiment a lot, others don't even participate and many new names come up. The 2011 Championships will be very different because the next year the Olympics are held...and they remain the "top meet".

I don't know if FINA can do something about this.
