This week's question really pertains to those of us heading to Masters Nationals in Austin, Texas next week:

How do you "taper" from 3,000 a day?

Good question, because 3K is usually my limit in terms of daily yardage in the time available to swim. When tapering for nats, I like to keep my total yardage at 2500 to 2600, because I will be swimming that much every day at the meet (with warmups, events, and warmdowns). During taper I usually swim for the same amount of time during a workout (70 minutes), but increase the amount of fast swimming and increase the amount of rest and easy swimming.
